South Lake Union Community Council Announces 2014 Priority Agenda

The SLU Community Council has developed a list of priorities for 2014. See the list, below. These have come out of the Community Council's annual retreat and are designed to provide a framework for the Council's work in the coming year. These are not the only things the Community Council will be working on. And the order in which they appear doesn't mean that one is considered more important than others.

Everyone in the SLU community is invited to get involved and engage with the SLU Community Council as it moves this agenda along in the coming months. The five priority agenda items are:

Update Neighborhood Design Guidelines: Collaborate with city's Department of Planning and Development and neighborhood stakeholders to update SLU design guidelines to reflect newly adopted zoning changes.
Construction Notification Protocol: Establish a neighborhood protocol with a central forum where city departments (such as transportation and utilities) and private developers alike can provide coordinated updates to the community on upcoming construction impacts.
Denny Substation Public Benefits: Facilitate a community task force with other neighborhood groups to engage with Seattle City Light on the substation’s design, project mitigations and public benefits.
Community Engagement: Continue to reach out to neighborhood stakeholders to increase pubic engagement and develop relationships with community groups with shared interests and values.
Transportation Advocacy: Continue to advocate for implementation of SLU/Uptown Triangle Mobility Plan.
