Rezone Legislation Released

City planners announced rezone legislation for SLU recently, calling it an important step in moving the SLU neighborhood as it continues it development as an Urban Center and a dynamic hub of economic development in the city and the region.  The proposed changes have the potential to add 12,000 new housing units and 22,000 jobs, according to city planning director Marshall Foster.

"Seattle's economy is recovering faster than many other cities in large part because of growth in South Lake Union," said Mayor McGinn. "Many companies in our growing technology and public health sectors want to be in South Lake Union. This proposal will help that growth continue in ways that bring significant public benefits."

If you missed the rezone open house meeting, the SLU Zoning Changes presentation contains an overview and background;  and information on growth, building heights, pedestrian environment, parking and more.

A director’s report, zoning changes summary and other documents are also available on the Department of Planning and Development’s website.
